Dr. Pastor Raymond A. Bell, Jr.

Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. is a native Washingtonian and the Senior Pastor of Mount Hope Baptist Church in Fredericksburg,    Virginia. Dr. Bell is the recipient of the prestigious Lilly Foundation sabbatical grant for clergy and a member of Hollifield Sustaining Pastoral Excellence Leading Edge Pastors, funded by the Lilly Foundation. 

In 2009, he was selected by the Lott Carey Foundation’s Pastoral Excellence Program (PEP) to participate in a three (3) year mission’s expedition to Georgetown, Guyana, Jamaica, West Indies, and Rome Italy to mentor and coach. He is a recent graduate ofSorensen Political Institute, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, and is currentlyserving on the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center’s Trustee Board, Commissioner and Chaplain for the Spotsylvania County Volunteer Fire and Rescue and EMS Departments.   
 
In this pastoral role for the past 23 years, Dr. Bell is responsible for the spiritual growth, and leadership of a congregation that has grown from 60 disciples to over 1000. Strategic planning, church growth, coaching, mentoring and training have been a major emphasis in Dr. Bell’s ministry. He lead his congregation in purchasing 20 acres of land for future growth and completing the vision of a 2500 seat sanctuary, a daycare/K-12 school, an office complex, and a Family Life Center.
 
He is the President and CEO of two (2) 501c3 non-profits, Mount Hope Academy and  Hope Community Development Corporation, an outreach service organization which partners with the community to deliver effective life services and programs for Senior Citizens, Workforce Development, and equipping First Time Homeownership. 
 
Dr. Bell was a freelance writer for the national magazine “Educational Pathways. He recently wrote for “Net Results Magazine” and Women Inspired News (WIN). He is the Founder and President of Mosaic Expressions.
 
Dr. Bell, a graduate of the Georgetown University Leadership Coaching Certification Program, is a Certified Leadership Coach and has demonstrated expertise as an educator and lecturer in the areas of mental health, burnout, sexual integrity, life transitions, etc.
 
Dr. Bell is a graduate of American University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Justice and Law. He completed his Masters of Art in Christian Education from Presbyterian School of Christian Education, and his Masters of Divinity from Virginia Union University School of Theology, both located in Richmond, Virginia. Pastor Bell received his Doctorate of Ministry from Howard University in 1993.
